Are There Enough Foodies to keep Restaurants in Business?

It feels as though everyday a chain of restaurants is cutting back or smaller restaurants are closing their doors. The population is growing but are tastes changing? We are constantly bombarded with companies wishing to sell tills, EPOS systems, the next best thing to grow your business or a delivery service.
Tastes are changing with more requests for dairy free dishes, Vegetarian and Vegan options but is the age of take away affecting restaurants who wish to present food in a way that is part of the experience? Have we decided that staying home in front of the television is more preferable than a night out experiencing new foods or food we like?
Only time will tell if this is a phase or a trend, lets hope that small independent restaurants can survive and thrive.
